GENERAL TERMS
The School of Arts & Humanities at the University of New England offers enrolled students the ability to use Media Arts equipment at no charge. A student can only borrow equipment for which they have received training—either through their enrollment in a Production class/workshop, or from a tutorial offered by staff or faculty within Communications & Media Arts.
RESERVATIONS
For fair use, equipment may be borrowed for up to 4 days unless the student has received prior approval from the Production Studio & Media Arts Equipment Coordinator. Students must schedule an appointment to both check out and return equipment at least 24 hours in advance. Reservation requests are subject to availability, with priority given to Production class needs. The student using the equipment must be the one to make the reservation and pick up the equipment. They will need to provide their UNE ID at each check-out. For group projects, one member must choose to be the responsible party.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Studio & Media Arts Equipment Coordinator maintains the inventory of CMA equipment and manages reservations. All efforts have been made to ensure your equipment is in good, working, complete condition. Within reason, they are responsive to requests for needed components or repair.
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that all equipment is included and in working order at time of check-out. If equipment is returned with missing parts or with damage beyond normal wear, the student can incur a strike (see below).
Please check your gear at time of check-out and inform us if anything is missing or broken.
STRIKE SYSTEM
If equipment is returned late, damaged or lost, a student will receive a “strike.” A student can receive 3 strikes per term before their check-out privileges are revoked for the remainder of that term. Strikes remain on your record within CMA, and the Production Studio & Media Arts Equipment Coordinator retains the right to deny a student use of equipment if a consistent pattern of loss & damage is recorded.
MEDIA
All returned storage media (SD cards, hard drives, computers) will be erased & reformatted at return of equipment. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure they have obtained their files before returning.
By agreeing to this contract, you certify that you have received training in the equipment you are checking out. You agree to return the equipment on your due date in good, working condition.
LAPTOPS
Communications & Media Arts (CMA) within the School of Arts & Humanities at the University of New England offers enrolled students the ability to use available loaner laptop computers at no charge. CMA retains the right to deny a student use of this laptop if the student's account has been blocked, or if they violated the University's computer Use Policies.
I acknowledge that the loan of this laptop includes the laptop, the power supply, laptop case and any needed dongles. I have verified that these items are included. I acknowledge that I am fully responsible for the security of the laptop and any peripheral devices once borrowed.

Any repair or replacement cost that I am responsible for will be charged to my Student Account. If this charge remains unpaid, it could create a hold on my account which would prevent future course registration.I agree to adhere to the UNE's Computer Use Policy. If I am unfamiliar with the policy, I agree to read it in full (which is found in the student Handbook https://www.une.edu/student-affairs/student-resolutions/student-handbook and in the ITS Office Space).I acknowledge that files, profiles and any individually installed software saved to the laptop's hard drive will be discarded/wiped upon return of the laptop to Information Technology Services.
